Scholarship for Non-Academic Sociologists in Australia

If you’re an applied sociologist from Australia, please don’t forget about the upcoming deadline for the Sociologists Outside Academia Scholarship being offered by The Australian Sociological Association (TASA). The scholarship will provide free registration to the Annual Conference. The deadline is 13th of August 2010 – that’s just one and a half months away! Non-academics have been woefully under-represented at the TASA conferences in the past – please consider taking up this funding opportunity and help increase awareness about the amazing work of applied sociologists to the rest of the sociological community!

The conference is being hosted by Macquarie University in Sydney, from 6-9 December 2010.

This scholarship will support non-academics who work in consultancy, contract work, private industry, not for profit groups and within government. In order to be eligible, applicants must be currently working outside universities, or have been recently working outside academia, and they must be paid members of TASA. To be considered, submit a paper to the conference proceedings and fill out an application.

Further information on the scholarship can be found in one of our earlier blogs or from the TASA Conference Website.
