Over January, we have a weekly series on Careers in Sociology. We begin with a review of the research, to set the scene on how to look for meaningful work. Sociology graduates are highly satisfied with the conceptual training they receive, but feel they lack career guidance. In short, they don't know how to promote their skills to non-academic employers, even though the majority of our graduates will work outside universities. Racial minority graduates, specifically Black and Latin people, are most likely to pursue a sociology degree to change society, but they receive the least career support.
Happy New Year, colleagues! May we all continue to make a better world through sociological action.
