Benefits of Sociology to Future Careers
A useful report on social science methodologies identifies four areas of innovation that will open up employment opportunities for applied sociologists. These methods will also help us contribute towards positive social change. The relevance to our community are as follows:
- Technological methods, such as visual sociology and digital/online sociology
- Interdisciplinary methods, especially involving ethnography.
- Applied sociology. “This is observed in participatory methods, action research, professional work, social and consultancy work.”
- Â Consultancy amongst applied sociologists with institutional affiliation to universities (for example Adjunct Research Fellows).
